Thank You

Recently I have had some difficult things come up. Now that it is all delt with and over with I am able to look back and see the wonderful blessings that my Heavenly Father has given me. One of them being the amazing Love and support that Shawn and I have from our family and friends.
During my sad time I got so many phone calls, text, letters, and flowers from my parents, siblings, grandmas, other extended family members, and friends.
I came to realized this one day when I got home from work and Shawn surprised me with a flower that my dear friend, Cheryl, had sent over for me. Then after checking the mail that same day I got 4 cards from family and friends letting me know that they were thinking about me and that Shawn and I both were in their prayers. I was very touched that day and appreciated what so many had done for us.
And that day I realized (like I have so many other days) that Shawn and I are so blessed with great friends and family members who love us and care so much about us!
There are always so many blessings that come with our trials in life. I wanted to thank all of the wonderful family members and friends that we have be blessed with!
Cute picture of Shawn showing off his Wyoming Cowboy roots. He walked out of the bedroom Sunday morning saying that he was ready for church-I think he was waiting to get a reaction out of me. He got that cowboy tie from his grandpa that passed away recently and thought it would be fun to try on. I did think he looked like a wester Saloon owner.
....he did not wear that to church-he did put his suit and real tie on.

Just a cute picture of Shawn getting bundled up for one of his RC races that he goes to on Thursdays. The days are really starting to cool down lately.....snow will be here soon.

Conference Time

My parents drove out for Conference last weekend. Jared and Amy came down, and Brock is in Provo with us-we all had a good time together.
Brock, me, Shawn, and dad outside the conference center-we went to the Sunday morning session and it was very cold and rainy.
On our way back to our car we met up with our aunts, uncle and cousins.
Dad, Mom, Brock, Me, Shawn, Todd, Brandalyn, Lisa, Alli, Maddie, Rachelle, and Sophie At the Conference Center getting ready to leave we stopped to get a picture with our handsome cousin Thomas-who is a freshman at the Airforce Academy and on their mens gymnastics team. We love and miss Tom.
Me (dont mind the double chin-not such a great angle for me), Shawn, Brock, and Thomas
We had a great time with my parents (like always).
-Brock and I requested that my mom make us a turkey dinner with all of the Nelson traditions since we will not be home for Thanksgiving this year
-We got to hang with Jared and Amy for a couple of days
-my mom totally scrubbed and made my shower white and beautiful again
-We did alittle shopping together (mother/daughter bonding)
-We all spent the night at the Little America on Saturday night and enjoyed a yummy brunch at the Grand America after conference,
Thank you mom and dad for coming out to visit-we love having you in town...and of course you are WELCOME anytime!

Grandma Platts Funeral

Shawns Grandma Platt passed away last week and we had the family funeral in Richfeild, Utah on Friday. Although my family had all arrived the afternoon before for the General Conference weekend, it was still nice to get away for the day and to spend our Friday with all of Shawns family-and there is alot of extended family. It is also always so fun to see all of Shawn's siblings and all of our cute little nieces and nephews.
Here is Shawn with his Grandpa Platt-he was so sad to now be alone-him and his wife had been married for 66 years.
Grandma Platts pink coffin-I thought it was fun that she had a pink coffin. It was very sweet that grandpa Platt sat next to her coffin in his wheelchair and would not leave until she was lowered into the ground. Everyone had left (besides Eugene) to sit with him until she was lowered into the ground. Our handsome little nephews, Corbin and Hadley, holding pink roses from the top of grandma Platts coffin

Shawn, Necha, Maggie, Josh, Mandy, and Brandon holding Brayden and Tessa, Corbin, and Hadley in the front at the burial

Shawn holding our newest nephew, baby Andy. So cute with all of his dark hair

After Grandma Platts burial all of Shawns siblings and parents walked over to Aaron's grave who was also buried in the same cemetery. Aaron is Shawns little brother who passed away when he was 11 years old. I had never been to his grave before-it was neat to be there with his family (sorry Ben and Becky we all missed you that day)
Shawn and I in front of Aaron's little grave

After visiting Aarons grave we stopped by to see Shawns other grandmas grave-who was also buried in the same cemetery.

We all had a nice day on Friday celebrating Grandma Platts life and then visiting both Shawns Grandma Nielsens grave as well as his little brothers

Frist Day of Fall Semester 2009

First day of Fall Semester for Shawn-every semester I get a picture of him standing in that same spot in the kitchen with his backpack on a smile on his face...such a cute boy!

Ft Bridger Rendezvous

Back when Shawn and I were dating he told me about the Ft Bridger Rendezvous that he use to go to with his family in Ft Bridger Wyoming. I had always wanted to go since then-so this last Friday we headed up to Evanston to spend the night with Shawns dad and then the next morning Shawn and I and his sister Necha, her husband Josh, and their 2 girls headed east to Ft Bridger for the big event.
It was so crazy. There were thousands of people dressed up like pioneers, Indians, and mountain men. We were the odd ones out because we were dressed in normal street clothes. This is quite the event in wyoming-it is a 4 day event and people come from all over to re-enact the Ft Bridger fir trapping days. There were tons of fun booths everywhere and people sold everything from real animal firs and hats, arrow heads, and anything that would have been sold back in the pioneer days. We also go to tour the old fort and all of the buildings that were restored and still located in the fort. We also got to see an Indian show, we briefly learned how to trap beavers, and make nails, and we got to eat some roasted nuts and Indian fry bread.

Here is Shawn and I pulling the pioneer handcart...there was not much room in the handcart so we would have needed a couple of them.
Lots of fur hats-everything from skunk to fox, wolf, and raccoon
Most of the people that came out for the weekend set up teepees to stay in with their families for the 4 days-they were not messing around

Some crazy Mountain Men-I know that I exaggerate sometimes....but this is seriously how everyone was dressed

Shawn and I in front of one of the tee pee

A crazy man at one of the booths. Shawn bought me some buttons made out of animal bone to use in my scrapbooking

Shawn and I with some of the Indian dancers-it was a hot day too I cant imagine how hot they were with all that leather on

Shawn with a Wolf (or Woof as my mom says it) hat that cost $500

Shawn in a booth full of furs. There were thousands of furs everywhere that people were trying to sell-and all real too. I cant imagine what a crazy Oregonian enviormentalist or PETA would think if they were here to see it all.

We had a fun day-I am happy I went to experiance all the crazy Rendezvous days at Ft Bridger
