4th of July

We went to Wyoming for the 4th of July this year-we were missing Oregon since we go there every year-but since the 4th was on Sunday all of our extended family ended up coming out here to Utah instead and my parents and Blake and Savannah stayed in Oregon because we are waiting to hear any day now that our little nephew will be here.

So we went to Wyoming and celebrated the 4th Platt style. It was fun hanging with all of Shawn's family. We had all of the family together except for Joseph who is on his mission. We spent time at the Bear River in Evanston where we played in the river and there was lots of tubing down the river and lots of buffalos and a huge moose that walked out from the bushes and crossed the river right next to us-it was so cool to see. We also spent time chatting and eating and playing with all of the nieces and nephews and lighting off fireworks.
I bought a kit with star sugar cookies, frosting, and red, white, and blue sprinkles to decorate them with the kids. We had fun decorating and eating the cookies. Me, Hadley, and Cael

Brecon loves the movie, Cars, so we bought him some cars to play with since we are not going to get to see him for the next 3 years since his family is moving to Germany for the next 3 years. We will miss them! We got to roast some marshmallows and made s'mores-my favoriteShawn with his s'more Brayden, Hadley, Cael, and Jacob watching the fireworks Cute little Brayden

So....on Wednesday I was at work talking to a friend and realized that Tuesday was mine and Shawns anniversary and WE BOTH FORGOT!!! I felt so bad that I almost started crying right there at work. I felt like the worst wife ever! I called Shawn right then to let him know that we had both forgotten and he was just as surprised as me for forgetting. Now Shawn has been in Arizona for the weekend at a Dental seminar-so we will need to plat something special when he gets home.
We have now beenmarried for 3 years! Hopefully we wont forget next year..........

June Birthdays-Platt Style

We just celebrated Shawns 25th Birthday and a few months ago I was trying to decide what I could do for him-and I knew that the best gift I could get him was to have all of his family together for a BBQ. So we planned a fun BBQ Birthday for all of the Platt family at the park behind our house. We had such a fun time all together and it was great because our sister in law Becky was also having a June birthday as well as 2 of our little nephews Cael and Brayden. So, we decided to celebrate all the June Birthdays!
We had everyone together except for Shawns brother, Ben, who was in Texas who will be out next week and Shawns youngest brother Joseph who is on his mission in Tennessee.
It was great to have the park in the backyard and we took over the playground with all of the little nieces and nephews-then we had a BBQ with lots of yummy food and then a competitive volleyball game and we ended with a few presents and some cupcakes.
Jacob on the swings
Here is our newest little Platt nephew-Connor. He is so cute and such a smiley little guy. Brayden who was also celebrating his 2nd birthday-opening his presents

The whole family
All of the nieces and nephews. 11 boys and just 2 girls!
Shawns oldest brother Garrett and his cute family: Garrett, Cynthia, Jacob, Gabe, and Jonathan Shawn could not wait to get his RC cars out to show them off to everyone. The nephews were loving the cars and Shawn made sure that they all got a chance to drive them around. We took over all of the swings-Kyle is here staying at our house so he helped entertain the kids on the swings

Becky and her 3 boys, Connor, Brecon, and Cael
Cute nephews loved playing on the playgroud. Corbin, Cael, and Hadley
Shawn with the BBQ-he was in charge of cooking all of the hot dogs, steak, and salmon

Thank you to all of our Platt family for driving down to our house and helping celebrate all of our June Birthdays. We had fun and cant wait to see everyone for the 4th of July holiday weekend!

Its all out of our hands now.......

The DAT is the entrance exam to get into Dental School and Shawn has been preparing to take it for the last few months. It was finally his turn to take the test on June 10. The test takes 5 1/2 hours with one 15 min break. The test has 6 different sections-Chemistry, Biology, Organic Chemistry, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comp, and Perceptual Ability.
I went to work a little late that morning so I could make sure to have a nice breakfast ready for Shawn before he left. I was anxious all day at work waiting to hear how he did and I know he was "a little anxious" too. I got a call with from a happy Shawn when he was done and I knew he did well. Shawn did very well on his test and I am so proud of him!
We submitted the Dental School application on June 12th and NOW we are feeling alot of relief and feel so happy to be done with everything. NOW it is all out of our hands.............. We will NOW be "patiently" waiting to hear back from the schools. Interviews will start Nov/Dec and we HOPE to hear back from the Dental Schools in Jan/Feb.

Happy 25th Birthday Shawn!!!

Shawn just had his 25th Birthday. Shawn had a birthday party with my family when we were in Oregon and he also got his big birthday present. He has been wanting a new 4x4 RC car far a while now and he finally got it for his birthday and he was so excited and has been driving it around every chance he gets.
Shawns actual birthday was on Monday-we were busy since we had just gotten back from Oregon and I was getting back to work and he was getting ready to take his DAT that week. So his birthday was low key. We had Brocky over and I made the boys spicy chicken wings (one of Shawns favorite) and then we got an ice cream cake and sang happy birhtday and Shawn went to the track to drive his car around.

My mom and I at Stauffer Farms. My mom volunteers at the Stauffer Farms in Aurora each week and it is an old farm from the ealry 1900's and thousands of fourth grade kids come to it each day for a field trip-she wanted me to come help her on Tuesday in the barn teaching the kids how to make shingles and candle holders. The best part....we had to dress up in pioneer clothing. But it turned out to be alot of fun!

Shawn and Brock drove out to Oregon at the end of May and left me at home to work. Shawn left a week early to shadow Dr Willis to get some more shadowing hours before he submitted his application. Then a week later I flew out to stay for a week and a half with Shawn...we had a great time.
-Jared and Amy moved back home and moved into their new home. They bought some property and are living in the house on the property while their new home is being built. We are so excited to have both Jared and Amy back home to Oregon.
-We had a family grad party for Kyle and birthday party for Shawn
-We spent memorial day with all our family at Todd and Lisas house enjoying some mexican food for lunch and then a party and ribs at the Youds and then some canoeing in their pond
-Shawn bought his new 4x4 Slash RC car that he has been dreaming of getting for a very long time...and he spent alot of time driving it around the farm and even built his own track at the covered dock on the farm.
-It rained alot so our plans to the beach and silver creek falls will have to wait until next time.
-We had a baby shower for Savannah who is the cutest little pregnant woman and we cannot wait to have our new little nephew born in a few weeks.
-My mom and I went to Stauffer Farms and taught 50 4th grade kids about chopping wood and making their own candle sticks and shingles.
-Shawn and I got our teeth cleaned-and neither of us had any cavities!
-We had a yummy dinner and played games at grandma and grandpas house.
-We relaxed alot and hung out with all the fam-which was very nice.
-Got to spend lots of time with my mom and had a great time with her.
-Went to the beautiful Portland Temple with my parents and then had the best fish and chips for dinner.
-Went out for a sibling dinner to the Claim Jumper with Blake and Savannah and Jared and Amy.
-Shawn holed up in my dads office a few hours everyday to study for the DAT
-We had a wonderful time in Oregon and cant wait to go back soon....especially since there will be a new baby Nelson there to play with.

Here are a couple of things that we have been up to.....
So, we haven't had alot going on lately. I have been working and Shawn has been busy doing research and studying for the DAT -that he will be taking the second week in June.
I have been working on a book for my Mom for Mothers Day. I had all of my siblings and my dad email me a letter for my mom and then I scrapbooked them all together will some pictures and made her a book-I think it turned out fun. Hope she likes it!
Shawn and Brock on yet another roadtrip. These 2 boys have taken about a dozen roadtrips together. They headed out to Oregon so Brock can hang with the fam and Shawn is shadowing Dr Willis for a week-luckily I will be heading out soon too.

I thought I would include a picture of Shawn will our Sunbeam class. We now have 20 Sunbeams!!! We got our 16th Sunbeam in February and then asked to have the class split...well it is now the end of May and now we have 20 Sunbeams and still no class split. We do love our calling and really do love all of the kids but we are sure exhausted as we leave church each Sunday.
