We have been having lots of cold, rainy, January days here in Oregon so Callie and I have been trying to stay sane and busy inside.
-We have taken advantage of a few rare hours without rain and we make sure to bundle up and take our walks and feed the ducks then
-We have went to OHSU to visit Shawn and have lunch with him
-We have played and played and playing inside the house
-We have visited with some family and friends
-And we have discovered the swimming pool-I decided to take Callie to the local pool to see if she likes it and she LOVES it! We have went swimming a few times now and she has become a little fishy

Callie's 6 month Drs appointment

Callie's 6 month Dr apt stats:

Height: 26.5 inches 54%
Weight: 14 lbs 11 oz 12%
Head: 43 72%

Callie is still a skinny minny and does not weigh very much but she eats alot and loves food and the Dr is not concerned and just said she is just very active.
When the Dr walked in he asked if Callie is rolling over yet and I let him know that she has been rolling, crawling, pulling herself up onto everything she sees, climbs on everything, walks along the furniture, and climbing the stairs. She is a busy one and has no fear of anything....this makes for alot of bumps and scratches!

We are grateful that Callie is a happy and healthy baby!

Wyoming New Years

With Shawn's 2 week break from school for the Holidays we decided to stay in Oregon for Christmas and headed East to Wyoming for New Years. I was not sure how the trip would go with a 6 month old in the car for 12 + hours but Callie actually did very well.
We got to Ogden and spent our first night with Shawn's older brother Bandon and his family and enjoyed visiting with them and meeting their new baby Kalee-who is just a few weeks younger then Callie. We then headed to Am. Fork to visit Shawn's mom and I ran a few essential Utah errands and a stop at Cafe Rio and Zupas to go. That night we got to crash the Woodley Park City trip and loved seeing all of our Woodley cousins and we appreciated them letting us stay the night before we headed to Wyoming.
We got to Wyoming on Friday morning and enjoyed a few cold days in Evanston with most of Shawn's family. We had lots of fun with lots of cousins for Callie to play with. We got to spend New Years at Josh and Necha's house for yummy food, games, and fun time with family.
This ended up being a very quick trip to Wyoming and we hope to head back in the summer for a longer stay.

Christmas 2011

I have always LOVED Christmas....but with a child of your own to celebrate it with makes it even better!
This year Christmas consisted of:
-Callie and I both loving having Shawn at home for his 2 week Christmas break. Callie became very attached to her daddy for the 2 weeks and is sad he is not home as much
-Brock coming home from BYU for the holidays and bringing a special friend...Emily Anne...and we all adored her
-Talking to Kyle on his mission to Brazil
-Decorating gingerbread houses with everyone. We represented with a decorated "Platt Dental Office"
-Christmas Eve at the Youds for the Nativity and treats. Callie got to be the baby Jesus-her first time performing...and she did great!
-While I was away for a couple of hours Shawn decided to work with Callie and teach her to climb the stairs. So now at 6 months she can climb to the top of the stairs in mere seconds...Her daddy was so proud. Not sure how I feel about it since I am the one home with her everyday.
-Me busting out in "Music Box Dancers" on the piano for the Nelson talent show
-Christmas Eve was spent opening PJs at Uncle Jared's house. Callie got her first pair of pjs sewn by her grandma-with a matching holly berry headband
-Christmas was on Sunday and the gifts were not opened until 11:30 after Church
-The traditional Nelson Christmas breakfast of aebleskivers and bacon with all the extended family was wonderful
-Callie got her first little dolly and stroller to push around
-Christmas at home with my family was amazing and celebrating Christmas with your own new little family of 3 was the best!

And I am especially loving it since:

- I am home in Oregon and I can be around for all of the fun festivities that lead up to Christmas day

-Shawn is going to be done with finals on Friday and then I get to have him home for 2 whole weeks

-I love being in a Christmas home (my mom loves Christmas) so there is Christmas music on all of the time, yummy smells in the air, and Christmas decor all throughout the house. She has 5 trees decorated all over the house. And the best one of all is 20 ft tall and smells so good

-I am loving all the treats we are making to give to others and to eat ourselves

-The Christmas parties we are attending

-I love this time of year to remember and Celebrate the birth and life of our Savior Jesus Christ

- I love that all of my Christmas cards are out and I love receiving cards and pictures from friends and family

-And I am loving my sweet baby girl who is the best gift of all!

We have been busy decorating the house and decorating cookies and decorating my baby in fun Christmas outfits and accessories...

Turkey Bowl

Every year the 4 Woodburn Wards do a Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving morning. This is something my dad and brothers look forward to each year. This year was fun because Shawn was able to do it too (he has never played in a Turkey Bowl). About half way into the football action my mom, Callie, and I drove over to the school to watch all of the boys play-the nice thing was they were all on the same team so it was easy to spot them all playing together.

Brock, Blake, My dad, Callie, and Shawn all ready to go play football

Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving this year-so much to be Thankful for:

-A hard working husband in Dental School and loving each day preparing to provide for his family someday
-Living in Oregon and happy each and every rainy day!
-A wonderful and supportive family who we love so much
-The Gospel which brings joy and happiness to our lives
-And the best little baby girl who I get to spend each day with

So many blessings from the Lord and so much to be grateful for this time of year

My sweet Thanksgiving girl dressed up in her turkey shirt and excited to have some mashed potatoes for her Thanksgiving dinner with the whole family.

We are in trouble because this little lady is up on her hands and knees and all over the house...she is not yet 6 months and already cruising where ever she wants to go.....I don't think we are ready for this yet! Porter and Callie love to play togetherThe whole family (minus Kyle on his mission in Brazil) together for Thanksgiving.
