Getting to Wyoming

Shawn got a 2 week break for the summer from school so we decided to take advantage of that and spent the first week with wedding festivities for the new Mr and Mrs Brock Nelson and then took off for Wyoming to spend the second week with Shawn's family.
We decided to leave Saturday afternoon and break up the drive into 2 days to make it nicer for our Callie Girl.  We got to Boise that night and got into the hotel pool to play right away and then had some dinner and then were off to bed for the night.
Callie is helping daddy load the luggage into the car Sunday morning
Callie got to play on all of the rocking chairs outside the Cracker Barrel in Boise Saturday night-we wanted her to get rid of all the energy she had built up after sitting in the car for 7 hours
 Playing in the hotel pool
We got to Utah and spent the night with a dear Mission friend of mine and loved visiting with her and her husband and Callie loved playing in the sprinklers.  Then Monday we were headed to visit with Shawn's mom and made a stop at Cabela's in Lehi first to see of the fish and animal displays.
Callie tried to stay cool from the Utah heat with a little Jamba Juice-it was not enough.  We were not use to all the dry heat they have in Utah and we do not miss it either
After visiting with Shawn's mom and spending the night with the best hosts (our cousins, the Woodley's) we finally headed up to Wyoming.
Callie got right to playing in the sprinklers at Grandpa Platts house.....

Brock and Emily's Wedding

Brock and Emily got married on June 29th in the beautiful Portland Oregon Temple with a reception that followed in my parents back yard.  It was a rustic wedding and everything turned out so beautiful and it was so fun to see how happy Brocky and Emily are.  We are all happy to welcome Emily into the family!

Porter and Callie enjoyed playing on the Temple grounds while waiting for the couple to come out

Blake and Porter (looking so dapper in his cream suit and bowtie) at the reception
Grandma Nelson made Callie's dress and it looked so cute on her and I loved that it showed off her little legs
Callie loved the feel of Aunt Emily's dress and would back up into it and wrap it around her body

One Sunday when both Shawn and I had to teach our seperate classes I ended up getting a helper with my Sunbeam class...
I am just happy that Shawn only has to teach once every other month!

Cannon Beach and The Portland Zoo

Looking back through my May pictures I realized that I did not post our family beach trip to Cannon Beach and our fun and wet day at the Portland Zoo.
Shawn had a free Saturday and did not need to spend all day at school doing lab work so we took advantage of that and headed Northwest to Cannon Beach.  It was a warm sunny day and Callie loved playing in the sand...until she realized there was water and after that we could not get her out of the cold ocean.  We had a great beach day together and cant wait to go back.

Callie and I also joined My Mom, Savannah, and cousin Porter for a wet day at the Portland Zoo.  Callie had not been to the zoo yet and we decided to venture out even though there were a few clouds in the sky.  It ended up raining a majority of the day but since we are from Oregon we just put on our hoods and went for it anyways and ended up having a great day checking out all of the animals.

Cousins!

These 2 cute cousins love eachother so much.  They are 11 months apart and really have so much fun playing  together.  We are so lucky to live so close to Porter and to get to see him and play with him everyday.  I hope that they will always be great firends!

Shawn's 27th Birthday

We celebrated Shawn's 27th birthday on June 7th.  Callie and I went to the Dental School and met Shawn for lunch and snuck and decorated his locker with pictures, signs, and balloons.  Then when he got home from school we had a special dinner, opened presents, and ate some German chocolate cake.  Shawn is such a great student, husband, and father-we love him!

Callie's first American Girl Doll

Last year when we found out that we were having a girl my mom went and ordered a Bitty Baby from the American Girl catalog and decided to give it to Callie on her first birthday.  When I was younger I loved the American Girl books and dolls and had few of them myself and I hope Callie loves them as much as I did growing up.  Callie is a very good mommy to her baby doll and carries it all around the house and gives it lots of hugs and kisses.

So excited to see her baby doll
