Callie Ann Platt

Callie Ann is here! We finally got our little girl and she decided to make a grand entrance and make us all wait many many hours to see her. My water broke and I started leaking on Wednesday night around 8ish and then I started getting contractions around 9:30 that started getting worse and worse. I just hung out on the couch watching, "Operation Repo" for hours while I tried to breath through my contractions and then finally at 4 in the morning I woke Shawn up and let him know that we needed to head to the hospital. We got to the hospital at 4:37 and I was dilated to a 1 and was 80% effaced, an hour later I was at a 3 and then an hour after that I was at a 5..man things were going quick and I was feeling good. I got my epidural and then got to a 6-my mom was flying in and I let her know that I might be having this baby before she got here.


Then things all came to a halt. To make a long story short...


We went on a cycle of pitocin to get my cervix to continue to dialate and then would have to turn it down because it would drop Callies heart rate. Dr then found that the babies face was looking up and she is suppose to be looking down. He tried a few times to turn her and it would not work ( and was very painful) and then they said we might have to do a C-section. I finally got to a 9.5 and then halted for a few hours. Once I finally got to a 10 and pushed for 2 hours the Dr. flipped her inside from facing up to facing down and then her heart rate dropped again and the cord was wrapped around her neck so they said they are going to try a few times to get her out with forceps and if they cant then I would be rushed in the OR for a C-section. Luckily the forceps worked after a few rounds or pushing and she was finally here with us and arrived at 11:28 that night. So I checked in at 4:30 am and she was born at 11:28 pm-dont worry my mom defiantly made it in time for her arrival.
Callie was not breathing right so after they cleaned her up they took her to the nursery to make sure to get her breathing and heart rate was back to normal. It took the Dr an hour and a half to deliver my placenta and to do all of my repair work (since there was a lot) and then they finally brought me into the recovery room around 1:30 am and that is when I finally got to see my baby and hold her.
She was so cute with such a chubby little round face and was just perfect. I was so overwhelmed when I got to hold my daughter for the first time. I was so grateful to have her here with me and honestly all of the pain and the long labor was washed away and became so worth it!
Callie Ann Platt was born 11:28 on June 2nd and was born 7 lbs and 10 oz and is 20 inches long and really is so perfect. We love her!!!!
Callie right after bath-her daddy got to pick out her bow and got to put it on himself-he was so proudCallie and I together for the first time in the recovery room-I was exhausted-but at this moment it was all so worth it!
Shawn and Callie-the hospital was great and brought in a rolling bed for Shawn in sleep in right next to me for the night. One very proud daddy! Shawn was so great and so helpful during the entire labor and has been amazing with Callie and has been loving on her since she was born. Callie in her cute "Callie" hat that my mom made for herCallie and her very happy Grandma. My mom made it in plenty of time for her to be born and was there helping me out the whole labor and has been so great helping me out while in the hospital and now here at home. She has been so great helping with Callie but also helping me out as well with my recovery. Ann is my mom's middle name and we made a wise choice in naming our baby Callie Ann after her grandma. Callie all ready to come home from the hospital Callie in her car seat all ready to go...her daddy was a little nervous and drove very slow all the way home with his precious cargo in the car.
We are absolutly in love with our little baby Callie and are so excited to have her in our lives. We waited a long time to have her here and we are enjoying being a family of 3.
