Here are some things that we have been up to...

We fianlly got out of our house for the weekend. Our little nephew, Jonathan, was having a 5th birthday party in Tremonton on Saturday. So, Blake and Savannah invited us to stay at their apartment for the weekend while they were in St George for their spring break. We took them up on the offer, since it had been over a month since we had really left our house to do anything since my injury. We drove up to Logan Friday night to relax and watch a movie. Then Saturday morning we drove the 25 miles to Tremonton for Jonathans Birthday party. We had such a great time together with most of Shawns family together and had lunch and some yummy cake and ice cream.
Shawn was so excited to get Jonathan a remote control car for his birthday (since they are Shawns new favorite things to play with) that he hurried and had him open up his gift so he could take him outside to drive it around.
After the lunch, cake, and gifts the boys all went to a remote part of Tremonton to go shoot guns...that did not last long since a cop showed up and let the guys know that they were not to shoot their guns in that part of town. After that we headed back to Logan to visit with Jared and Amy for the evening. Shawn enjoyed playing the Wii and Jared had fun watching him.
Blake and Savannah got back Sunday morning and we all went to church together, ate dinner...then we headed home after a fun and relaxing weekend together and we our family.
A picture of me with my skirt, flat shoes, and crutches. All I can wear are skirts since nothing fits over my huge brace that goes from my thigh to my ankle, and I cant wear anyother shoes but flats, since I dont want to trip or fall, and of course I have my crutches that I have to take with me everywhere I go! Here is Shawn with his little pistol out shooting with his brothers.

So, Shawn and I have been laying low and just hanging out alot at home these last few weeks since my surgery. I have not been able to do much lately, but I have defiantly been able to start doing more recently. We have had some visitors come and help break up some of our same-old everydayness. For the first 2 weeks I did not leave my recliner chair with my ice machine hooked up to my leg. But now I have been able to start going to work for the day, them come home to elevate my leg with lots of ice.
But during these last 4 weeks since surgery we got invited to a cousins dinner at the Woodleys home. We went and met up with all of our cousins here in Utah for hamburgers and fun games. The Woodleys are great hosts and have all of the "Nelson" cousins over for dinner/games often.
Here is a picture of all of the girls, minus Savannah who left early with Blake to head south to St George for the week. And a picture of most of the boy cousins and (some girlfriends) while they play, "Ticket to Ride" together. Every time we all get together the boys get this game out to play, but they are very stingy and they do not let any of the girls play!

And here is a picture of Shawn playing a hand-held Phase 10 game...there have been a few weeks straight that we never left the house and I sat in my recliner with my leg elevated while he did homework, watched TV with me, or played games.

This post is soley for my parents so they can see a picture of Brocky's new little girl friend, Emily. They have been by to visit many times, and we really like her.

Watermelon in February!

Since my surgery, I have been craving some different things like Lucky Charms, english muffins, and Robin Eggs Easter candy. This last Sunday Brock and Emily and Shawn were all making dinner together and they made steak, salad, and mushrooms. It was a great dinner, but all I was craving was watermelon! I knew I was not going to be able to have watermelon since it was the end of February...but I was still craving it.
So, Wednesday night Brock and his cute little lady friend, Emily, surprised me with a watermelon. It was very small, but it tasted so yummy and I was so excited for Brock's surprise watermelon.
I have a great little Brother.

on the mend

So, it has now been 1 week since my knee surgery. I am now on the mend...and it looks like it will be along road of recovery.
Surgery went okay, it ended up being a hour longer than planned because my knee was a lot worse then the dr expected. Once they opened my knee up they found out that I did not even have an ACL left and that my Meniscus was not attached and was floating around in my knee, they also had to go in and scrap out a bunch of scar tissue and arthritis that had been building up in my knee over the years since my original injury back in high school.
I now spend all of my time at home with my right leg elevated and hooked up to my ice machine and wait for Shawn to come home from school so he can get me some new ice, medicine, and food.

I have also had some much appreciated help from some family and friends. Blake, Brock, Amy, and Jared have all been on babysitting duty and have all helped take care of me on different days. Shawns mom, Vickie, has come and helped out for a day and made a yummy dinner. Melissa Weed and Zelig have also come and babysat so that Shawn could spend a Friday night with the boys doing boy things. And I also need to thank Amy for coming out and cleaning my house and making some yummy meals for Shawn and I to eat for a few days (my dear husband as amazing as he is, does not cook) and to Megan and Eric for some dinners as well.

I have my dr appointment tomorrow to see how things are healing up and them I get to start my physical therapy.
Thank you everyone for your help.

My new best friends

I tore my ACL on Tuesday at work....now I am on crutches and although, I am getting pretty good at using them, I still don't like them. I go in next Monday for surgery. I have a long road to recovery ahead of me.

Kyle and Mom in town

My dad was in Germany for a week, so we talked my mom and my youngest brother, Kyle, to come out and visit for the weekend. We got to celebrate Kyle's 17th birthday all together (minus my dad). Brock, Shawn, and I met Blake, Savannah, Jared, Amy, Kyle, and my Mom in Layton and a Mexican Restaurant in Layton. Kyle got to wear a huge sombrero and he shared his fried ice cream with us all. Here is a picture of Jared at the retrained

Then Saturday morning we all went out to breakfast at, Magelbys Fresh, for some yummy french toast, then the boys all went out to the BYU vs. Wyoming Basketball game for the afternoon.
Here is everyone piling into Blake's car ready for the game (it was a tight fit with Shawn, Brock, and Kyle in the back)

While the boys were all at the game, my mom and I worked on a cute craft project. We each made a set of these "give thanks" blocks.

The rest of the weekend Brock, Shawn, and Kyle played a very long game of Risk...they played for like 6 hours and I don't even know who ended up winning.

Kyle blowing out his cake for his 17th birthday, I cant believe my youngest brother is getting so old.

And here is a picture of Shawn and I, Kyle, My mom, and Brocky.

Sunday afternoon we all went to the Woodleys to watch the Superbowl...so much fun. Then I had to take my mom and Kyle to the airport so they could fly home. We had such a fun weekend with everyone and we look forward to when my family comes back out to visit.
