Week 2 in Oregon

Week #2 in Oregon was alittle bit more relaxing then the first- and almost just as fun!
Shawn and I had a great opportunity to meet with a counselor up at OHSU Dental School in Portland. There we got to ask lots of questions, go over Shawn's grades and things that we need to do now before applying next spring. We also got to tour the campus to check out the school and the clinic (while touring we meet 4-5 other BYU students that were now students there). OHSU Dental school is also where my Grandpa Nelson graduated from Dental School and Orthodontics School, so it was fun to see where he went too. After visiting the school we stopped by the Portland Temple and then had lunch at the new Osweigo Grill (it was delicious!)
Here we are in front of the fountain at the beautiful Portland Temple.
We also did alot of swimming on our trip home-2 of our aunt and uncles have pools so it was nice to go and cool off during some of the hot days.
Here is Shawn with Brighton and Brax in the pool with Savannah in the background.
While in Oregon Shawn kept busy the second week helping Blake finish up his new house. Blake and Savannah moved in 1 week earlier and there were still a few thing that needed finished up-so Shawn used all of his amazing construction talents and helped Blake get his finished up.
Shawn also spent alot of time driving around his RC cars. He brought 2 out and then also got a new one too. So, Shawn, Kyle, and some of the boy cousins spent alot of time out racing the cars around the drive way and on the farm.
While Shawn was helping Blake out at his house, racing his cars, and hanging with the boys....I got to go to the dentist, make a lot of cute little finger puppets with my mom (I will post some pictures of those later), did alittle shopping, and pick lots of raspberries and make some homemade strawberry and raspberry jam to take back to Utah with me.
Amy, Savannah, my mom and I went out one morning and picked enough raspberries to make about 12 batches of jam, 1 raspberry cobbler, and raspberry waffles. After picking we spent the rest of the day making all of our jam. I cam home with almost 2 batches of raspberry jam and 2 batches of strawberry jam as well. I do not like jam but I know that both Shawn and Brock both love it!

Amy, Savannah, and I wighting all of our raspberries after picking.

After 2 weeks at home in Oregon....it was time to say good bye and head back home to Utah. We were sad to go but so happy for the chance to have stayed for so long and also for the fun memories that we made while we were there. We were happy we got to be there with Jared and Amy as well as Blake and Savannah living there now too. We also loved visiting with both sets of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and lots of cousins too! We loaded up the car on Sunday morning and started our 12 hour drive back.
Thanks again for another fun trip back home to Oregon....we hope to come back soon.

Visit with Garret, Cynthia, and Boys

Shawn and I decided to head out to Oregon for the 4th of July (Shawn's favorite holiday) on our drive out to Oregon we stopped and spent the night in Burly, Idaho with Shawn's oldest brother, Garrett, his wife Cynthia, and their 3 cute little boys. We left around 3 from Provo so we would make it to their house in enough time to visit and to spend some time with the boys before they had to go to bed.
Cynthia made us a great dinner, then Garret and Shawn set out a huge race car track in the basement for all the boys to play with. Although the boys all loved playing with the big boys and racing the cars around the track-I think Shawn had the most fun of all. He loves to play with cars and tracks and the like!
We were able to get a good nights sleep and a hearty breakfast from Cynthia before we finished our long drive out to Oregon.
Jonathan, Shawn, and Gabe playing with the race car track. It is always so fun watching Shawn play and interact with his little nieces and nephews. Thanks again Garrett and Cynthia for letting Shawn and I stop by and eat, sleep, and visit, during our trip back to Oregon-as always you were great Hosts!

Hill Air and Space Museum

Everytime Shawn and I pass by the Hill Air and Space Museum I want to go in and see all of the cool old planes and jets. We decided to go and visit the Air Museum and we thought it would be even more fun to bring 2 of our cute little nephews with us. So, we went and picked up Corbin (5) and Hadley (3) and brought them with us to see the Museum. Shawn and I both had so much fun looking at the planes and jets with 2 little boys. It is great to see things from the eyes of 2 little boys. We loved looking outside at all the big planes and of course with 2 little boys we also spent sometime picking up rocks and looking for bugs. Then we got to go inside and look at even more planes and jets while also visiting the kids center where the boys got to dress up as pilots and do some virtual flying. After looking at all of the planes, we went to the gift shop and the boys got to each pick out a toy plane to take home, and then we headed out to get some ice cream before we dropped the boys off at home.

We had such a fun time spending a few hours with our cute little nephews and also checking out all of the old war planes and jets. I suggest to anyone living in Utah to go and visit the Museum-so fun and also FREE!

Manti Temple Pageant

Shawn and I met his Dad and Doreen in Manti for the Manti Temple Pageant on Thursday evening. I had never been before and have always wanted to go-so I was grateful for the chance to go.
We got seats right up front on the second row and it was great to see the program so close. The Manti Pageant was great, it rained a little toward the end of the show but it helped cool things down.
Here is a picture of Shawn and I with Eugene and Doreen on the second row...it was great! Shawn and I in front of the Manti Temple

The Manti Temple all ready for the pageant to start.

We have the cutest little class and we get to teach the funnest lessons...most of all I like to spend my whole day at church with Shawn teaching together!

Happy Birthday Shawn!!!

Shawn turned 24 on Sunday, since it was Sunday we didn't go out and do anything wild or crazy but it was kind of nice to have a nice and relaxing day together. We went to church then came home and had BBQ ribs for dinner, Shawn got to open a few gifts then his mom and sister and her family came over to play, Ticket to Ride (Shawn's favorite game) and for some cupcakes and ice cream.

Rexburg Weekend

This past weekend, Shawn, Brock, and I all drove up to Rexburg to go to our really good family friend and Brocks best friend since they were 5 years old, Adam Hassell's wedding. We left Friday straight from work and dropped Brock off with some friends and Shawn and I got to stay with Mike Shirts, one of our really good mission friends. We spent Saturday sleeping in and then hanging out with our friend. That evening we caught up with Brock again and headed to the reception in Manan, Idaho. A small farming town outside of Rexburg. The reception was great, we had a good time and we were happy to go and support the Hassell family. Shawn and I also had a good time getting to talk with Brock to and from Rexburg since he is in Pennsylvania, selling for APX for the summer and we never get to talk to him anymore. We got home around 1 pm Saturday night and went straight to bed since we had to wake up at 6:30 to take Brock to the airport the next morning so he could fly back to PA.
We also loved getting to see both the Idaho Falls Temple and the Rexburg Temple while in Idaho.

Brock thought it would be funny to buy Shawn a huge 3 pound turkey leg at a gas station during our 4 hour drive to Rexburg. We all ate some as our dinner-and it actually tasted pretty good.
