Brocky is going to BYU

My younger brother, Brock is out on his mission in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and will be returning home on November 9th. It is still awhile away but I am so excited to have him home, especailly since he just got accepted into BYU for the winter semester!!! And since Shawn and I still have 3 years left at BYU we will be able to be here for most of his schooling. Brocky is such an amazing guy, so smart, an amazing writer, missionary, and brother. He is so easy to talk to and he loves music, fishing, and skiing. Again I am excited to have him live so close!

Debbie Meyer Green Bags

I am now hooked and a firm believer of the Debbie Meyer Green Bags. I am sure everyone has seen the infomercials about these bags that are suppose to help your produce stay fresh and last long. Well, I have never bought anything before from TV but I got interested in these bags a while back when I saw them on a commercial. So, I did some research online about them and then discussed the possibilities of buying them with my mother. So, I went ahead and ordered them online. I got 20 bags for $9.99. I gave my mom 10 bags and I kept 10 bags, and I have to say that they are amazing. I decided to test them out with some strawberries. I bought a big carton of strawberries from Costco and put them in my green bag and they really did last well over a week. Then I cut up lots of lettuce and veggies to make a yummy salad, and each night I would grab a handful of the fresh salad and it lasted Shawn and I 1 week. Then the ultimate test was going to be one of my favorite foods in the world...raspberries. I love raspberries, but they only last about 1-2 days and they are not so yummy and fresh anymore. So, again I went to Costco and bought a box of raspberries that had 6 little cartons in it, and I put those in the green bag. Now, I have eaten one little carton each day for breakfast, and this morning I ate my last one and by golly those little raspberries were so good and plump and just as fresh as the day I bought them last Wednesday! So, again I am a very firm believer in these green bags and I am so excited to be able to preserve all my fresh fruits and veggies longer. Seriously I recommend them to everyone!

1 blissful year of marriage....and many more to come!

Today Shawn and I are celebrating our 1 year anniversary. It is crazy to think that just one year ago Shawn and I got sealed forever in the Portland Temple. It was an absolutely perfect and amazing day. One that I will never forget, and I cant believe how quick the this last year has gone by. Here is a picture of Shawn and I leaving early Saturday morning with my dress in my hand and Shawn in his Tux, ready to go to the Temple.
Shawn and I after the Temple Ceremony, one of my favorite Wedding day memories was walking into the sealing room with Shawn and seeing all of my favorite people in the world. The room was packed full of all our family and friends ( I was just missing Brock, Kyle, and Jared-they would have made it even better!) The Sealing was great and then it was time for lots of pictures, then a wonderful dinner and reception at my parents place, the sky was blue and the house and backyard were beautiful.
Soon after our Oregon Sealing and reception we headed to Wyoming for an Evanston reception, but on the way we made a few stops in Rexburg, Jackson hole, and here we are having an ice cream brake in Yellowstone. Then it was off to Evanston. The Evasnton reception was beautiful as well. Shawn's dad Eugene put together the whole reception and did an amazing job. Our first two months were spent working for Bountiful Farms and living in the "love shack" or a little guest house my parents have on one of the farms. We then left and started our new little married lives in Utah. We found a little duplex and I started work while Shawn continued with school. We have had many adventures in between, and now here we are celebrating our first year happily being married and loving it!!! Shawn is so amazing and perfect for me. He is such a hard worker in everything he does and he has been the best husband for me. I truly do love him more and more each day. This last year has been so great and I know there will be many many more to come....

Here are some more poctures of our wonderful first year of being married!!!

My amazing Husband

Shawn just celebrated his 23rd birthday and his is such an amzing guy. I am so very blessed to have him in my life and to have him for all eternity as my husband. Shawn has so many talents and abilities, he is such a good handy man always fixing things aound the house, he is also so smart, and is doing so great in his studies and classes, he is such a hard worker and worthy Preisthood holder, and best of all he does so good taking care of me, loving me and being my very best friend!!! I love him so much and love him more and more each day. What a lucky girl I am.

One year older and wiser too...Happy Birthday to you!!!

My handsome little husband just had a birthday! He is now 23 years old, and becoming quite an old man, even though he is 2 1/2 years younger then me. So, I decided to get Shawn a BBQ for his birthday, I bought it Friday morning (since I had his truck while he was at school) and since I had bought it a day early I had to try and hide it until Saturday. I hid it behind our little shed and Friday night he was insited on watering the lawn...and he spied his BBQ with a big bow on it and knew it was his. He has loved it so far, and we are both so excited to start Barbecuing all summer long.
For Shawn's birthday I planned alittle party with all of Shawn's family (except for Ben and Becky...sorry we wish you lived closer). His dad and fiance came down from Evanston with Necha, Josh and their girls, and then Garrett, Cynthia, Brandon, Mandy, Amanda, Ben, and Joseph, and lots of little nephwes came to help celebrate the day. We had a big BBQ with steaks and hot dogs, we all played volleyball (and I have to say that the 8 month pregnant, Mandy, was the VIP), we had yummy cupcakes, and ice cream, and then there was lots of visiting with eachother while all the kids played the day away.
Here is Grandpa Eugene taking care of the babies. Little Maggie, and 4 month old Jacob, the newest of the Platt clan...and so cute. Grandpa Eugene is the best, he always has a baby in his arms, and the kids all love him.
Once we brought the cupcakes out, the kids all swarmed around Shawn, they loved all of the colorful sprinkles on the chocolate frosting.
Shawn got a BBQ from his wonderful wife, along with a cute birthday outfit, some BBQ supplies and $ from my paretns, and an awsome 5 person tent from all of his family. We are excited to have our new tent. Thank you everyone for the tent and for all driving down to Provo to help celebrate Shawn's special day, I know that he was so happy to have everyone together for his birthday.

Camping Weekend

We decided to go camping, so we called up a few of our friends and we headed up the Provo canyon and up past Oakley and Kamas and decided to stop and camp close to our friends cabin. We had a great time eating yummy foil diners and making s'mores at night, then it got freezing so we decided to try to warm up in our tents. By morning we were nice and hot from the sun outside and our double sleeping bag we got for Christmas from Shawn's dad.
Here are a few of our friends with us hanging out on a bridge that crossed over a river that was next to our camping spot.
And here is my husband trying his hand at fishing, he didn't have much success...but he did catch this stick!
And he is Shawn playing an ax game with some of his buddies, I guess the point of the game was to see who could make the ax stick into the side of the tree more times...oh the joy of being a boy!
We had such a great camping weekend and we look forward to some more this summer.
