Callie has the BEST GRANDMA in the World

When the nurse confirmed that Shawn and I were going to be staying at the hospital and not leaving until our baby was born I called my mom to let her know to buy her plane ticket to come out here to Utah. She got her ticket and took the first flight to Utah and got to the hospital by the afternoon. It was great to have my mom in the hospital room with me to help me and to be there to help support me and to be there when Callie was born. She was also great and in the hospital with us for our stay and helped out alot and then extended her stay a bit and came home with us and helped change diapers, fed us great meals, packed up our whole house, cleaned, held Callie, and helped take care of me too....I think we wore her out on her stay. But we sure appreciated her helping us out.
Callie is a lucky girl because she gets to move to Oregon and gets to be close to her grandma and grandpa and gets to be even more spoiled then she already is.

We cant wait to live with grandma and grandpa and to have them be a part of our little Miss Callie's life.

......and I think they are excited too!

Shawn's 26th Brthday

Along with moving to Oregon next Wednesday and just having a baby we got to celebrate Shawn's 26th Birthday. We had a low key celebration at home with some of Shawn's favorites. Since my mom was still in town and Brocky came over and brought some Pizza from The Slab and then sang happy birthday and had cake and ice cream and opened some gifts. Shawn said it was a perfect day since it was relaxing and he got to spend it with his new precious little baby Callie.
Here is Shawn and Callie blowing out his candles The new family of 3-Shawn, Callie, and I

Callie had a busy day and didnt really make it for the birthday festivities-but she sure did look cute and wore a little shirt that said, "I love my Daddy" and I thought it was so perfect for her daddy's birthday. This new daddy is completly obsessed with his little baby and he cannot get enough of her. Shawn has been so amazing helping me recover and also helping take care of Callie.

Callie really had a busy day with a bath and a birthday party for her daddy and needed to take a long afternoon nap to help her recover.

Happy Birthday Shawn-we hope you had a great day and we sure love you!!!

Callies first day home

Callie had a busy first day home:
-since it was in the low 80s outside her daddy was anxious to try out the new stroller and take her for a walk along the Provo River. I think she loved it because she slept the whole way.
-Then it was time for her first bath at home and Shawn and Grandma got to give that to her together.
-Then she got to get dressed and watch the NBA Finals with her daddy
-The rest of the day was filled with eating and sleeping and being rocked by her grandma!

Callie Ann Platt

Callie Ann is here! We finally got our little girl and she decided to make a grand entrance and make us all wait many many hours to see her. My water broke and I started leaking on Wednesday night around 8ish and then I started getting contractions around 9:30 that started getting worse and worse. I just hung out on the couch watching, "Operation Repo" for hours while I tried to breath through my contractions and then finally at 4 in the morning I woke Shawn up and let him know that we needed to head to the hospital. We got to the hospital at 4:37 and I was dilated to a 1 and was 80% effaced, an hour later I was at a 3 and then an hour after that I was at a 5..man things were going quick and I was feeling good. I got my epidural and then got to a 6-my mom was flying in and I let her know that I might be having this baby before she got here.

Then things all came to a halt. To make a long story short...

We went on a cycle of pitocin to get my cervix to continue to dialate and then would have to turn it down because it would drop Callies heart rate. Dr then found that the babies face was looking up and she is suppose to be looking down. He tried a few times to turn her and it would not work ( and was very painful) and then they said we might have to do a C-section. I finally got to a 9.5 and then halted for a few hours. Once I finally got to a 10 and pushed for 2 hours the Dr. flipped her inside from facing up to facing down and then her heart rate dropped again and the cord was wrapped around her neck so they said they are going to try a few times to get her out with forceps and if they cant then I would be rushed in the OR for a C-section. Luckily the forceps worked after a few rounds or pushing and she was finally here with us and arrived at 11:28 that night. So I checked in at 4:30 am and she was born at 11:28 pm-dont worry my mom defiantly made it in time for her arrival.
Callie was not breathing right so after they cleaned her up they took her to the nursery to make sure to get her breathing and heart rate was back to normal. It took the Dr an hour and a half to deliver my placenta and to do all of my repair work (since there was a lot) and then they finally brought me into the recovery room around 1:30 am and that is when I finally got to see my baby and hold her.
She was so cute with such a chubby little round face and was just perfect. I was so overwhelmed when I got to hold my daughter for the first time. I was so grateful to have her here with me and honestly all of the pain and the long labor was washed away and became so worth it!
Callie Ann Platt was born 11:28 on June 2nd and was born 7 lbs and 10 oz and is 20 inches long and really is so perfect. We love her!!!!
Callie right after bath-her daddy got to pick out her bow and got to put it on himself-he was so proudCallie and I together for the first time in the recovery room-I was exhausted-but at this moment it was all so worth it!
Shawn and Callie-the hospital was great and brought in a rolling bed for Shawn in sleep in right next to me for the night. One very proud daddy! Shawn was so great and so helpful during the entire labor and has been amazing with Callie and has been loving on her since she was born. Callie in her cute "Callie" hat that my mom made for herCallie and her very happy Grandma. My mom made it in plenty of time for her to be born and was there helping me out the whole labor and has been so great helping me out while in the hospital and now here at home. She has been so great helping with Callie but also helping me out as well with my recovery. Ann is my mom's middle name and we made a wise choice in naming our baby Callie Ann after her grandma. Callie all ready to come home from the hospital Callie in her car seat all ready to go...her daddy was a little nervous and drove very slow all the way home with his precious cargo in the car.
We are absolutly in love with our little baby Callie and are so excited to have her in our lives. We waited a long time to have her here and we are enjoying being a family of 3.

So....good news from the Platt Family!

Shawn got an interview invite from OHSU (Oregon Health Science University) and he flew out to Oregon last Thursday night and had his interview on Friday. He loved the school and of course we love the area and best of all-all of my family lives out there too.
We were anxious to hear back from them since this has always been our top school to go to...and just last night as Shawn and I were leaving the Provo Temple he checked his phone and he had an email from OHSU Congratulating him on being accepted to their school!!!!!!
We are so excited to finally hear back and not only that but to hear back so quickly from them (just 1 week after his interview) and to hear back from our top school! What a great relief and blessing.
Shawn has been working so hard these last 4 years at BYU to get into Dental School and to fulfill his dream of being a dentist! Just a few months ago while in Wyoming Shawn and I were looking through some boxes in his old room at his dads house and I found a note in there from Shawn that he wrote in 7th grade and it talked about how he wanted to be a dentist when he "grew up". What an amazing thing to always know what you want to do in life-and now he is done with his Physiology degree and on his was to his top dental school and continuing on the path to become a great dentist!
I am so proud of Shawn and all the work he has put into getting into Dental School.

Now we are just waiting for this little baby to come join our family in just a few short weeks and then we are going to move back to Oregon. I moved out here to Utah in 2001 to start school and have not been back home since, so for me this is honestly a dream come true. Now my baby and I will be able to spend lots of time with all of my family while Shawn spends lots of long days at school.

I looked back on my childhood growing up with my cousins and siblings and grandparents on the farm and I am so excited and feel so blessed for my baby to to grow up with her cousins and grandparents and family all so close.

Hope Oregon is ready for us...because we are moving back!

Easter 2011

This Easter was nice and low key and relaxing-which is my favorite way to spend the holidays and I know will probably be one of our last relaxing holidays that we get to spend together since we have Dental School and our Baby Callie on the way. Shawn and I went to church and then snapped a couple of pictures (Shawn had taken his suit off and I had to talk him into putting it back on for a few pictures...got to capture those memories) and then Brocky came over later in the day and the boys had to both look for their Eater baskets that I had hid earlier in the day (not the boys favorite thing to do) but after they found their baskets then we ate dinner and watched the, Sound of Music, that was on TV. We are grateful for Easter and for the Resurrection of our Savior and his perfect example to all of us.

Kara's Wedding Weekend

We had a busy busy weekend with lots of family in town for my cousin Kara's wedding. Jared, Amy and my mom drove in Wednesday night and then Savannah and Porter got in on Friday morning. We also had grandparents and all of our aunts, uncles, and cousins in town for the festivities as well. Friday night we all headed up to Park City for a family BBQ dinner and had fun seeing everyone and meeting Grants (Kara's husbands) family as well. After the dinner we had a baby shower for my cousin Megan, who is having a boy and due 1 week before me and for me. We both got lots of fun gifts from everyone. Then Saturday morning we headed to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple for the sealing. After the sealing we had a luncheon with Grants family at Thanksgiving Point and then later that night we went to the reception at a Garden Center in Highland-it was beautiful. We had such a fun weekend with all of our family in town and it all went by way to fast. I was sad to see everyone leave on Sunday. -It was great to have my mom in town for a few days-since she got to work sewing some baby blankets, bibs, and burp cloths and she took me shopping to get me my last bit of essential baby needs and also got me some things for me that I didnt even know I needed for the baby, hospital, and for breastfeeding. Thanks mom
